WHAT TECHNOLOGY DO ID CARDS USE?
#1. The most common technologies are magnetic stripe, proximity, barcode, smart cards and various biometric devices. The magnetic strip ID card was invented by Forrest Parry in 1960. The access badge contains a number that is read by a card reader.
#2. Security and accountability are paramount for any business in any industry. The technology of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) provides cards with unique codes imbedded on a chip to identify a card holder. The card reader on the door constantly emits a Radio Frequency energy Field. When a card crosses the field, the power from the field energizes a copper wire inside the card, which powers the chip containing the card number and any other unique data. The unique information is then transmitted back to the reader using the RF field. The reader will then send the unique card information to the access control system which will make a decision on whether the card holder is authorized to gain access. All this occurs in a split second.

We all need to take precautions in the workplace. Controlling access to exterior doors as well as individual offices, and even entire areas provides another layer of protection from the unknown. We want employees to feel safe, authorizing each employee an RFID card to gain access only to the areas needed and keeping the entrance doors locked at all times reduces the chance of unauthorized entrance. Additionally, access systems keep everyone accountable, and valuable equipment/inventory and confidential information safe. As personnel come and go, issuing or revoking access can be controlled immediately.
The system provides an audit trail for each card user showing exact times of access. Cards can be modified for revised access or disabled all together. In an emergency situation the entire facility can be put on lockdown. The system also gives an accounting of all employees present during the emergency. The addition of a Video Surveillance System gives an added level of security and a visual recording of all events. Furthermore, video systems can be accessed by authorities during extreme cases such as an intruder.
Integrating intrusion, access control, and video surveillance helps to streamline searching for recorded video as well as helps reduce false alarms caused by user error. An access control system that disarms your security alarm system prevents the need for users to remember and enter codes for disarming.
Card access with video surveillance are great additions to your intrusion security system and overall security plan.

100% PVC ID Cards
As name suggest these are 100% PVC cards.
As many as 95% of the market is occupied by these types of cards.
They are also referred as plain ID cards as there is no access control or data embedded in them. These are printed via dedicated printers which are only for printing on ID cards. The standard size of these cards is 84×56 mm or 56×84 mm, that is, one can get them in both landscape and portrait format.
Proximity ID cards
These in addition to standard cards have read only information. By design, they are read only, so they can not be manipulated. It ensures that security of your company is not compromised. These proximity cards can be read through any card reader. There is no special card reader required for using them.
Magnetic stripe cards
Almost all credit cards and debit cards have magnetic strip facility where safety information is transmitted through this film. These are more secured than other forms of cards. These cards offer safe and quick information exchange. Banking enterprises though are always on lookout for the more bankable solution, but these cards are still considered as close to the best alternative available.
Over laminated cards
We provide you with an option of laminating the PVC cards to give it an over laminated, stylish, thick finishing. You can select from gloss or matt lamination. Lamination provides an extra layer which works as:
- A protection layer against unintended scratches hence keeping your card looking neat.
- A counter duplication mechanism as it is not easy to forge or duplicate.
You can choose whether you want all cards to be over laminated or only few important ones.
Composite ID Cards
These are mix of PVC and PET. Composition is 60% PVC and 40% PET, certain suppliers do supply them in ratio of 1:1. It is better to have higher percentage of PET then PVC to make it more robust. These are a better option than 100% PVC cards. They are of better and higher quality than PVC cards.
Pre-Printed Cards
There are a few companies who have employees moving in and out of the companies on a daily basis. It becomes difficult to procure fresh ID cards on the daily basis from printers. These organizations get their company standard format card printed in bulk and leave few variable data fields blank. Variable fields are manually filled, it saves time and make it more flexible.
School ID cards
School ID cards are a cheaper alternative to standard PVC cards. They often have a fixed case embedded in the card itself. This is a seasonal requirement which schools have. Lanyards are always in 1 single colour with the school’s name screen printed or digital printed as per the choice.
Bio degradable card
These cards are sought after by MNCs (multinational corporations or companies) and other major companies which love to take the environmental safety initiative (go GREEN campaign) to the next level.
You can also accessorize your identity card with a lanyard, an ID badge holder or ID badge reel.
Visitor access cards
These cards are printed on standard 130 gsm or 170 gsm art paper with just visitor tag written. You can consider sub dividing it into Business Visitor and regular visitors. These are put in plastic transparent pouches.
